Issue Position: Anti-criminal Street Gang Efforts

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2020

The 2016 historic rewrite of Georgia Anti-Street Gang laws: Using his skills as a former prosecutor, Bert rewrote Georgia's anti-criminal street gang laws to make them the toughest in nation, to equip our police and prosecutors with the strongest tools available to go after and end criminal street gangs. As Street Gangs grow and plague our communities, recruiting our teenagers away from schools and into gangs, controlling drug distribution and human trafficking, and bringing unprecedented violence to Georgia, it is incumbent on the General Assembly to act to ensure Georgia's laws are sophisticated and narrow. Bert has continued his work in the legislature against street gangs through his role as a Floor Leader for Governor Kemp. - HB 874 - (2016)
